uva field hockeyVirginia field hockey junior back Amber Ezechiels (Niew-Vennep, Netherlands) has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week.

Ezechiels anchored a backline defensive effort that shut out visiting Boston College and limited the 11th-ranked Eagles to four shots in last Friday’s 1-0 win by the Cavaliers. The defender led the way as Virginia limited BC to just one shot in the second half in posting its third shutout of the season.

This is Ezechiels’ first career player of the week honor and the third weekly accolade for a Cavalier this season. Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Henriksen (Falls Church, Va.) was named the Defensive Player of the Week in September and sophomore midfielder Adele Iacobucci (Malvern, Pa.) was the offensive player of the week on March 23.
