UVA’s first 5 game times announced, including 11 a.m. start against Big Ten’s Illinois

Game times for Virginia’s first four football games this fall were announced Thursday by the ACC, and it looks like a lot of Wahoo tailgaters are going to plan on having brunch for at least one of them.

First though, UVA’s season opener against William & Mary, coached by former Cavaliers head coach Mike London, is set for Saturday, Sept. 4, at Scott Stadium. The game will have a 7:30 p.m. kickoff and will be broadcast on the ACC’s affiliation of Regional Sports Networks.

While four of the Cavaliers first five games are all set for night kickoffs, that’s certainly not the case for the second game, an 11 a.m. start (Sept. 11) against visiting Illinois. The game will be televised by the ACC Network.

It is the second time in memory that UVA started a game at 11 a.m.

The following weekend (Sept. 18) will be Virginia’s first road game and its ACC opener at ancient rival North Carolina, a game starting at 7:30 p.m., also an ACC Network contest.

UVA will have a short week to prepare for its next game, a home contest against Wake Forest on Friday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. (ESPN2), then a Thursday game on the road at Miami (UVA’s third straight season at Miami), with a 7:30 p.m. kick off (ESPN).

While there was no starting time announced for the Cavaliers Oct. 30 game at BYU, ESPN said that it plans on one of its networks to carry that game.

TV networks make their choices of game times for contests played after the first few weeks of play, meaning the rest of UVA’s game times will be announced at a later date.
