UVA Cross Country receives USTFCCCA academic honors

uva track and fieldBoth the Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams earned 2020 NCAA Division I All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

In addition, two student-athletes on the men’s program received the organization’s All-Academic honor.

In order to qualify for the All-Academic team honor, a program must have a combined cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. As a team, the Virginia women posted a cumulative GPA of 3.485 while the men earned a 3.413 GPA.

The two individual runners recognized were senior Harry Monroe (Alexandria, Va.) and junior Pete Morris (Hamilton, Va.). Monroe is majoring in global studies while Morris is pursuing a degree in electrical engineering. Both runners competed in the recent 2021 (2020 season) NCAA Cross Country Championships.

To qualify for the All-Academic individual honor, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have either qualified for the national championship meet or finished in the top five at their respective conference championship event.
