Virginia announces 2021 field hockey schedule

uva field hockeyThe Virginia field hockey team announced its 2021 schedule on Friday with a slate that features 17 games, including 11 home contests.

In addition to the six-game ACC schedule, the Cavaliers play 11 non-conference contests that include three matches against Big Ten opponents, including hosting Penn State in the season-opener on Aug. 27. Virginia hosts Maryland on Oct. 7 and travels to Ohio State on Sept. 19.

Virginia gets a two-game tune-up ahead of the season-opener, playing a pair of scrimmages at American (Aug. 16) and at home against Liberty (Aug. 20).

UVA faces a pair of Commonwealth opponents, William & Mary and Old Dominion, in both home and road matches. Delaware (Aug. 29), Towson (5), Miami (Sept. 10), and Drexel (Oct. 24) are also making trips to Turf Field.

In conference action, the Cavaliers host Duke (Oct. 1), Boston College (Oct. 9) and North Carolina (Oct. 29) while traveling to Louisville (Sept. 17), Wake Forest (Sept. 24) and Syracuse (Oct. 22).

The ACC Championship will take place Nov. 4-7 at Syracuse.

The broadcast selections, including games appearing on the ACC Network, will be released and posted to VirginiaSports.com once they are determined by the Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN.
