While state’s top recruit commits to Ohio State, UVA takes 3-star WR Davis from Charlotte

Virginia landed its fifth commitment for the Class of 2021 on Friday, when the Cavaliers gained three-star wide receiver Jesiah Davis of Charlotte’s Providence Day School.

Davis, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound rising senior, chose UVA over Illinois, Liberty, Marshall, Mississippi Valley State and Kent State.

He helped Providence Day to North Carolina’s NCISAA Division I state title last season. He is considered the No. 29 rising senior prospect in the state by 247/Sports and No. 53 by Rivals.

Meanwhile, TreVeyon Henderson of Hopewell High School, the state of Virginia’s top recruit and considered the No. 1 or No. 2 running back recruit in the country who had UVA on his final list, has committed to Ohio State.

Some Ohio State recruiting observers believe that Henderson’s commitment might open up a much-desired recruiting pipeline in Virginia for the Buckeyes.
