Virginia finishes 10th at the Collegiate Invitational

The Virginia men’s golf team finished 10th in the 14-team field at the Collegiate Invitational at the Country Club of Birmingham on Wednesday. UVA shot 11-over 295 during the final round for a 54-hole total of 25-over 877. Clemson took the team title at 2-over 854 in a field that featured 13 teams ranked in Golfstat’s top-50.
Sophomore Pietro Bovari (Milano, Italy) was UVA’s top finisher, placing 25th with a three-day total of 6-over 219. He had a final-round score of 4-over 75.
Freshman Chris Fosdick (Middlefield, Conn.) was 34th at 220 after also posting a final round score of 75. Senior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) shot UVA’s best score on Wednesday, carding an even-par round of 71 to move up to a 36th-place finish at 8-over 221.
Freshman George Duangmanee (Fairfax, Va.) was 43rd at 223 and senior WeiWei Gao (Cebu, Philippines) dropped back to 55th place at 225. Duangmanee shot 74 and Gao 78, respectively during the final round.
The Cavaliers’ next event will be the ACC Championships on April 23-26 at Crabapple Golf Club in Alpharetta, Ga.
