Virginia golfers Amanda Sambach (Davidson, N.C.) and Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) competed in the second round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur on Thursday. The start of competition was delayed until 3 p.m. due to heavy rains in the area.
Lillie, who played in the day’s first group, managed to finish her round, shooting 5-over 77 for a two-day total of 10-over 154. Sambach stood at 4-over for her round after 16 holes when play was suspended due to darkness. Her overall score was 6-over par.
Play will resume Friday at 7:30 a.m. at the Championship Retreat. The top 30 competitors from the opening 36 holes of play will advance to Saturday’s final round of competition at Augusta National.
