The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field program landed six women and three men on the All-ACC Academic Team.
For the Virginia women Margot Appleton, Maria Deaviz, Rebecca Hawkins, Anzhelika Parenchuk, Jada Seaman and Keara Seasholtz all earned a spot on the team. Each of Virginia’s six honorees achieved All-ACC honors this season. Deaviz claimed her first ACC championship in the shot put while Rebecca Hawkins won silver in the high jump and Jada Seaman took the bronze in the 200m. Parenchuk, Seasholtz and Appleton took silver in the distance medley relay. Appleton also finished fifth in the mile.
Appleton earns the second academic honor of her freshman campaign after being named to the All-ACC Academic Teams following both the indoor track and field and cross-country seasons.
The men’s selections included Owayne Owens, who claimed his second consecutive gold medal in the triple jump at the ACC Indoor Championships. Jordan Willis and Nathan Mountain who took fourth place in the 400m and mile respectively also made the team.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
