Wahoos strike again, add second commitment of week from South Carolina WR Zachary

Virginia football is celebrating a bountiful recruiting weekend, officially adding the second of a rumored five commitments.

Christian Zachary, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound wide receiver from Saint Matthews, S.C. (Calhoun County High School), announced his commitment on his Twitter account Tuesday after making an official visit to Virginia in a big recruiting weekend for the Wahoos. UVA hosted several prime target recruits and at least two have committed to the program, although three more may be making official announcements in the coming days.

Zachary is a three-star and rated the No. 12 overall recruit in the state of South Carolina by 247Sports composite rankings, which also ranks him the No. 78 wide receiver prospect in the nation in the 2024 class.

The wide receiver chose Virginia over offers from Duke, Appalachian State, Charlotte, ODU, Liberty, Georgia State and others.

His announcement comes on the heels of Grant Ellinger, a three-star offensive lineman from Naperville, Ill., officially commiting to the Cavaliers on Monday.

UVA had previously added commitments from three other in-state players: John Rogers, tight end (Alexandria); Benjamin York, offensive lineman (Burke); and Ethan Minter, athlete (Chester).
