Jarin Stevenson commits to Alabama
By Jerry Ratcliffe
Jarin Stevenson, the nation’s top-ranked power forward, has committed to Alabama. He chose the Crimson Tide over North Carolina and Virginia.
The 6-foot-10, 5-star from Pittsboro, N.C., surprised many observers that predicted Stevenson would choose nearby UNC, only 15 miles from his home. Stevenson said that he really liked Alabama’s NBA-style offense, which would allow him to show his skill as a stretch-four type player with a perimeter shot.
Stevenson also expressed a desire for early playing time, which is more available to him as a freshman at ‘Bama than likely at Carolina or Virginia, which has experienced players at his position.
I want to thank everyone who supported me and showed me love. With lots of prayer, I have decided to reclass to 2023 and play for the University of Alabama. 🐘 #RollTide pic.twitter.com/mtzwu0sEs5
