UVA beats out ACC rival for Adams; second commitment in two days

For the second straight day, Virginia beat out other ACC rivals for a football commitment, gaining a pledge from 3-star safety KeShawn Adams of Avon Old Farms in Avon, Conn.

Adams, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back, is rated the 10th-best overall recruit in the state of Connecticut, and the No. 104 safety in the country by 247Sports. 

The safety, who has also played some cornerback and nickel, visited UVA on June 2 after being offered by the Cavaliers in March. He is the fourth defensive back commitment for Virginia in the 2024 recruiting class.

Adams picked Virginia over Duke, West Virginia and UConn. He also held offers from Syracuse, Temple, UMass, Buffalo, Akron and Campbell. On Friday, the Cavaliers gained a commitment from 3-star wide receiver Triston Ward, who chose UVA over three other ACC schools: Pitt, Duke and Boston College.

During his junior campaign at Avon, Adams allowed only one pass completion in man coverage while being targeted 11 times.
