UVA returns to Georgia for third commitment in 2 days, plucks promising CB Gray

Recruiting heated up big-time over the weekend for Tony Elliott’s Cavaliers as Virginia landed three football commitments within a 30-hour span, beating out ACC schools for the trio of prospects.

Saturday evening, Kevon Gray, a 3-star cornerback from the Atlanta suburbs (Fairburn, Ga./ Creekside High School) announced on his Twitter that he had committed to UVA. He held offers from 30 schools.

Gray chose the Cavaliers over Pitt, Louisville, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Colorado, Kentucky, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri, Memphis, Central Florida, JMU, Appalachian State and others.

He was UVA’s second commit of the day, joining safety KeShawn Adams, a 3-star safety from Connecticut. On Friday, 3-star wide receiver Triston Ward committed to the Cavaliers.

Gray is rated the No. 100 corner in the country by 247Sports, and No. 99 by On3. He is also ranked the No. 120 overall prospect in the state of Georgia by 247 and No. 100 by On3.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound corner, who also excels in track, visited Virginia on June 2 after being offered on May 18.

He is Virginia’s fourth commitment from the recruiting-rich state of Georgia, with all four being defensive players.
