Amanda Sambach played her final 27 holes bogey free to claim medalist honors at the Glass City Invitational held at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. The reigning ACC Champion, it was Sambach’s fourth career win.
After shooting 72 during Monday morning’s opening round, Sambach made her climb up the leaderboard during the second round before play was suspended Monday evening due to darkness. When she returned to the course Tuesday morning, she posted back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17 and completed her round at 4-under 68. She matched that score during the final round to coast to a four-shot victory.
It was the 12th time in 23 collegiate events she has finished in the top-10.
Virginia was second overall in the 10-team field, shooting 10-over 874, six shots behind champion Florida. The Cavaliers finished their second round at 2-over 290 and shot 3-under 285 during the final round.
Megan Propeck finished ninth overall to post her best collegiate finish. She shot 1-under 71 during the final round for a two-day total of 3-over 219. In two outings this season, freshman Jaclyn LaHa had her first top-20 outing, placing 15th at 5-over 221. She closed out the event with scores of 73 and 74.
Rebecca Skoler was 41st at 232 and Celeste Valinho was 47th at 234. Both players shot 1-over 73 during the final round.
