Hoos picked to finish 4th; Beekman named to All-ACC preseason first team

UVA was selected fourth and senior guard Reece Beekman was named to the Preseason All-ACC First Team, the league announced Thursday.
Duke is the preseason favorite, followed by Miami, North Carolina, Virginia and Clemson in the top five.
ACC preseason voters selected Wake Forest sixth, followed by NC State, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh and Syracuse. Florida State was picked 11th, while Boston College, Georgia Tech, Louisville and Notre Dame rounded out the voting.
The Cavaliers were selected third in the 2022-22 ACC Preseason Poll and finished first (15-5) in the standings. The Cavaliers have finished at or higher than their predicted finish in 13 of the last 15 seasons.
Beekman was joined on the preseason All-ACC first team by Kyle Filipowski (Duke), Armando Bacot (North Carolina), PJ Hall (Clemson) and Norchad Omier (Miami).
Virginia opens the regular season Monday, Nov. 6 vs. Tarleton State. Tipoff at John Paul Jones Arena is set for 7 p.m.
