Virginia golfer Amanda Sambach tied for 14th place at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur at Augusta National Golf Club. That matched her finish from last year’s event. It was the fourth time she has participated in the tournament.
Sambach shot 4-over 76 at the home of The Masters on Saturday to finish at 2-over 218. After posting par scores on her first two holes, she had bogeys on holes three, four and five. She picked up birdies on seven and 10 to get back 1-over par before a triple bogey on hole 16 put her back at four-over.
Sambach is currently ranked No. 8 in the latest NCAA standings and figures No. 16 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings.
The Virginia women’s golf team returns to action Monday when the Cavaliers compete at NC State’s Wolfpack Match Play event. It is the team’s final regular-season tournament.
