UVA beats out Georgia for D-Lineman John in Bulldogs’ back yard
By Jerry Ratcliffe
Virginia continued to beef up its future defense with its third commitment on that side of the ball in two days, when 3-star Georgia lineman Sichan John announced on his Twitter account that he’s a Cavalier.
John, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound product of Hebron Christian Academy in Dacula, Ga., was offered by SEC powerhouse Georgia, Maryland, Louisville, Tulane, Boston College, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern and Georgia State.
On Sunday, the Cavaliers picked up commitments for the recruiting class of 2025 from Davin Chandler, a safety from Berlin, Md., and Montino Williams Jr., a corner from Chesterfield’s Matoaca H.S. UVA now has 15 commitments in the ‘25 class.
John, rated the No. 98 defensive lineman in the country and No. 104 overall prospect in the state of Georgia by 247Sports, visited Charlottesville three times during his recruitment, back in January, again in April for the Spring Game and last weekend.

The scouting report on John is that he has a strong lower body and good frame for stuffing the run, good hands for getting off blocks, and is just now beginning to mature physically.
He squats 635, benches 320 and has a 330 power clean. His vertical is 30 inches and he has a shuttle time of 4.8.
More to follow on this commitment.
