Sanker named to Preseason All-ACC Team

Virginia safety Jonas Sanker has been named to the 2024 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Football Team, the conference office announced Thursday.
The 2024 Preseason All-ACC Football Team was determined following a vote of 170 media members who were credentialed for last week’s ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte, N.C.
Earlier this week, Sanker was also named a preseason watch list selection for both the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Jim Thorpe Award.
In 2023, Sanker was named a First Team All-ACC selection by both the conference office and the Associated Press. He led the Cavaliers in total tackles (107), pass breakups (11) and forced fumbles (3).
Sanker also led UVA in tackles in eight of its 12 games last season, including when he recorded a career-high12 tackles against James Madison and Boston College.
The 2024 ACC Football Championship Game will be contested on Dec. 7 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, and will feature the top two teams based on conference winning percentage. The ACC and the Charlotte Sports Foundation have an agreement in place to keep the championship game in Charlotte through the 2030 season.
