Virginia has restocked its backfield with the commitment Wednesday afternoon of Tennessee running back Peyton Lewis, according to his agent.

UVA had previously landed Middle Tennessee running back JeKail Middlebrook, an honorable mention Conference USA tailback this past season (see related story).

Lewis and Middlebrook will replace J’Mari Taylor, who is turning pro, and Harrison Waylee, whose eligibility has expired.

Lewis is definitely a good get. Originally from Salem, Virginia recruited him hard out of high school, but he chose the Volunteers where he rushed for more than 500 yards and 10 touchdowns during his first two seasons in Knoxville.

The 6-foot-1, 212-pound speedster rushed for 290 yards and 7 touchdowns this past season as a rotational back. He has at least two years of eligibility remaining.

Lewis visited UVA on Tuesday and Wednesday along with several other players from the portal (see related story).
