Duke’s Cameron Boozer, the odds on favorite to become the National Player of the Year in a few weeks, and a sure-fire top three NBA Draft choice as a freshman, didn’t hesitate when he was asked about facing Virginia’s human flyswatter Ugonna Onyenso in Saturday night’s ACC Tournament championship game.
Boozer was held without a field goal in the first half and finished only 3 of 17 shooting and had 5 of his shots slapped away by Onyenso. Of course, other UVA players were also charged with defending Boozer, but when he did get a shot away, it was often altered and blocked by the man called “Ugo.”
“I definitely got frustrated,” Boozer said after Duke pulled out a 74-70 win over Virginia. “I gotta give props to [Onyenso]. He’s a great defender, great shot blocker.”
