While there still has been no official announcement, sources said Sunday that Virginia sharpshooter Sam Lewis has agreed to a deal to return for the 2026-27 season.
The 6-foot-7 Lewis was the Cavaliers’ second-leading scorer last season, averaging 10.6 points per game. He was also the team’s second-leading, 3-point shooter, having made 40.3 percent of his shots from the arc.
Lewis was the last missing piece of the puzzle for UVA, which is returning every scholarship player on the roster with eligibility remaining.
Last week, Thijs De Ridder, Johann Grünloh, Chance Mallory, Silas Barksdale, Elijah Gertrude and Martin Carrere all officially announced they were returning to a team that won 30 games in Ryan Odom’s first year as Virginia’s coach.
