No Surprise: Charles Snowden Named ACC Linebacker Of The Week

Virginia defenders celebrate around Charles Snowden (11) after a defensive stop vs. Louisville.
When the ACC announced its Players of the Week Monday, anyone who saw what Charles Snowden did against Louisville knew his name would be on the list.
The 6-foot-7, 225-pound sophomore was named the conference’s Linebacker of the Week after an eye-popping, breakout performance against the Cardinals that helped propel Virginia to a 3-1 record with a dominating afternoon.
Snowden, who admitted that he is simply willing and eager to do anything possible to help the team succeed, racked up a team-best eight tackles, broke up a pair of passes, showed off his athleticism with a leaping interception, recovered a fumble and recorded a sack, all of which helped spark the defense to the important ACC-opening victory.
“After the interception and then the sack, [sophomore linebacker Zane Zandier] said, ‘Just keep stuffing the stat sheet,’ kind of as a joke, and from there on it kind of kept happening so it was a good day,” Snowden said after the win.
Snowden’s teammates and coaches loved what they saw Saturday, but his play caught nobody within the program off guard. And they know that this is just the beginning for this special talent out of Silver Springs, MD.
