UVA football recruiting puts a stake in the Peach State, adding OL Furnish

Georgia is becoming a fertile recruiting ground for Virginia football. The Cavaliers, who are scheduled to open the season against the Georgia Bulldogs in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium in September, recently added yet another Georgia commit to the 2021 recruiting class.
Offensive lineman Ty Furnish, from Blessed Trinity Catholic in Roswell, Ga., became UVA’s 14th commitment overall for the class, and the fourth prospect from the Peach State to commit to the Cavaliers.
Honored & excited to announce my commitment to University of Virginia Cavaliers football. Thank you to @UVACoachBronco & @Coach2J! @UVAFootball #GoHoos @Cavaliers247 @VirginiaSports @UVACoachAtuaia #THEStandard & thanks to my coaches & team mates @BTTitansAD @BTCatholic pic.twitter.com/ELxys5Mqff

Meanwhile, San Mateo (Calif.) tight end Christian Pedersen, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound, 3-star, has included Virginia on his list of final three schools.
Pedersen, who attends Junipero Serra, has narrowed his choices to UVA, Louisville and San Diego State. He has relatives in the state of Virginia. Pedersen is being recruited by Cavaliers special-teams coordinator Ricky Brumfield.
One of Pedersen’s former high-school teammates, defensive end Nusi Malani, signed with UVA last February.
Furnish joins three other previous UVA commitments from Georgia: Amaad Foston, a running back from Milledgeville; West Weeks, a linebacker from Watkinsville; and Hugh Laughlin, a defensive lineman from Athens Academy.
Furnish is a 6-4, 250-pound offensive lineman, who also plays on the defensive line for Blessed Trinity, which has won three consecutive Class 4A state titles.
He chose UVA over Appalachian State, East Carolina and others.
The Cavaliers intend to sign four offensive linemen in the ‘21 class, and Furnish was the first to commit.
One of Furnish’s former high-school teammates, North Carolina running-back commit Victor Green, upon learning of Furnish’s intentions, tweeted: “Yes sir, Ty! They’re getting a steal. See ya soon in the ACC.”
