Virginia Director of Athletics Carla Williams announced Friday that Tony Belt and Ronnie Wideman have been promoted to deputy athletics director.

As deputy athletic director, Belt serves as sport administrator for the men’s and women’s swimming program, and field hockey. Belt also assists with the administration of Virginia football. He leads the department’s efforts in admissions, and provides strategic oversight of student enrollment, roster management and campus partnerships.

Prior to his promotion, Belt served as a senior associate athletics director for student success since 2023.

Wideman transitioned into senior administration in 2025 after serving the Virginia men’s basketball program as an associate athletics director for administration and operations for 16 years.

As deputy athletics director, Wideman serves as UVA’s lead cap manager, as well as sport administrator and assistant general manager for men’s basketball, general manager for women’s basketball and Olympic sports. Wideman also assists with the administration of Virginia volleyball.
