Virginia senior Chico Bennett Jr. was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week on Monday. It marks the second-straight week a Cavalier has been recognized by the league it its weekly awards.

Bennett had a career night on Friday at Syracuse for a Cavalier defense that held the Orange to just 75 yards on the ground. Playing UVA’s bandit position, Bennett made four tackles, including a career-best two sacks. In addition, he recovered one of the Cavaliers three forced fumbles on the night. After allowing a touchdown on the game’s opening drive (following a 57-yard kickoff return), the UVA defense only permitted four field goals on Syracuse’s next four trips into the red zone.
