Virginia senior women’s golfer Beth Lillie will tee off at the 2021 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships on Friday. Competing as an individual in the stroke play portion of the event, Lillie is scheduled to start her first round at 7:25 a.m. MT from the 10th tee at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
There are 132 competitors (24 teams and 12 individuals) competing in stroke play. Following three rounds, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team competing for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match play competition and the 72-hole stroke play individual champion.
During the opening round, Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) will be paired with Brigitte Thibault of Fresno State and Louise Yu from Vanderbilt.
Lillie advanced to the NCAA Championships following a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Columbus Regional. This will be the third time she has competed in the event. She played in the NCAA Championships in both 2018 and 2019 when the Cavaliers qualified as a team. Her best finish was 43rd during her sophomore season.
An All-ACC selection in 2021, Lillie led UVA with a 72.91 stroke average and had top-10 finishes in four of eight tournaments. She was the team’s top performer in three of those events. Lillie is ranked No. 54 in the latest (May 18) Golfstat individual rankings.
Golf Channel will provide live coverage from the NCAA Championships on Monday and Wednesday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com and NCAA.com.
