The upcoming weekend will be a busy one for former San Diego State transfer Elijah Saunders, who is visiting both the Washington Huskies and Virginia.

According to a source, Virginia basketball will get a visit from one of the top small forwards in the transfer portal, Campbell University’s Anthony Dell’Orso.

The Cavaliers learned Monday that St. Mary’s portal target Aidan Mahaney has committed to play for two-time defending champion Connecticut.

It has been an interesting week for Virginia and the transfer portal, as a pair of star guards made official visits, while one power forward did not show up and another is scheduled to officially visit on Friday.

Virginia women’s basketball head coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton announced this week that Latasha Lattimore will join the program for the 2024-25 season.

Two more standouts from the transfer portal are visiting Virginia this week, joining 6-foot-8 Illinois-Chicago forward Toby Okani.

The game will be played on Nov. 14 at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena. The other half of the doubleheader pits Virginia Tech against Penn State.

Dante Harris entered the transfer portal on Friday and will have two years of eligibility remaining, as UVA continues to search for another point guard.

The Cavaliers got some welcomed news also on Wednesday when McDonald’s All-American point guard Trent Perry of Los Angeles announced he will visit UVA this weekend.

Toby Okani, who has one year of eligibility remaining, has pushed back his official visit to Virginia until next Tuesday.

Virginia women’s basketball head coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton announced Tuesday that Hawa Doumbouya will join the program for the 2024-25 season.

Virginia’s Ryan Dunn, one of the top defensive players in the nation, said Tuesday that he plans to enter the NBA Draft and will not return to school.

According to sources, former Harvard freshman star Malik Mack, the No. 1 point guard in the transfer portal, canceled his weekend visit to Virginia and apparently is headed to Georgetown.

Viewed as a true prize prospect in the transfer portal, former Saint Mary’s forward Joshua Jefferson has announced he will visit Virginia this weekend.

Virginia’s Leon Bond III entered the NCAA transfer portal on Saturday, posting on social media: “Thank you Virginia. You will have my heart forever.”

Virginia has reached out to former Virginia Tech sharpshooter Tyler Nickel and former Southern Cal point guard Trent Perry as the NCAA transfer portal heats up.
