Virginia added its 29th player via the transfer portal on Wednesday with a commitment from New Mexico State safety Da’Marcus Crosby.

Crosby, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound defender originally from Houston, has two years of eligibility remaining and gives UVA more depth in its secondary.

Crosby is coming off his best season in 2024, when he was New Mexico State’s second-leading tackler with 81 total tackles, including 46 solo, and one forced fumble. He also had an interception and three pass breakups.

He played in 2023 for Sam Houston State and posted four interceptions en route to being named All-Conference USA’s first team. He also added 55 tackles (36 solo) and three passes broken up.

Prior to Sam Houston State, Crosby played at Kilgore Junior College and had three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. He also had 75 tackles.

Crosby posted 14 tackles vs. Fresno last season, 10 vs. Jacksonville State and Middle Tennessee, and 9 vs. UTEP and FIU.
