Virginia’s director of cross country, Vin Lananna, announced the program’s 2023 schedule Wednesday, featuring three home meets including the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships.

“Our schedule is an exciting one,” said Lananna. “The Virginia cross country program is so fortunate that Panorama Farms will serve as the venue for the NCAA Cross Country Championships. The Murray family has worked closely with the Virginia athletics department to host two lead-up meets that will bring the best teams in the country to Charlottesville this fall. Our women and men are excited to welcome those teams before entering the championship season in late October.”

Virginia will host the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 18 at Panorama Farms. The 2023 championships will mark just the second time Virginia has hosted the event and the first time since the 1987 championships.

In the build-up to the NCAA Championships, the Cavaliers host a pair of meets on their home course at Panorama Farms. The home schedule begins with the Virginia Invitational (Sept. 23) featuring a highly competitive field including many of the qualifying teams from the 2022 championships. Virginia will also host the XC23 Pre-National (Oct. 14) which will serve as an opportunity for NCAA Division I teams from across the country to preview the course for the 2023 NCAA Championships.

The Cavaliers will open their season on the road at the Spider Alumni Open in Richmond, Va. (Sept. 2), before traveling to the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. (Sept. 15). The postseason will see the team travel to Tallahassee, Fla. for the ACC Championships (Oct. 27), and Spartanburg, S.C. for the Southeast Regional Championships (Oct. 10).
