Dave Odom, a longtime assistant coach to Terry Holland at Virginia who then went on to become head coach at Wake Forest and South Carolina, will be the special guest on Thursday’s “The Hootie & JJ Show,” hosted by Virginia Sports Hall of Famer Jerry “Hootie” Ratcliffe and Coach Jeff “JJ” Jones.

Jones, who played for Holland and Odom, then succeeded Holland as Virginia’s head coach, later directed programs at American and Old Dominion. Jones is chair of the NIT selection committee and a special advisor to the NCAA Tournament’s men’s selection committee.

“The Hootie and JJ Show” has been getting rave reviews by listeners who not only like the stories shared, but the behind-the-scenes insight Wahoo fans can’t find anywhere else, particularly leaning on Jones’ expertise from both the player and coach perspectives.

Dave Odom, of course, is Virginia coach Ryan Odom’s dad.

Dave was a three-time ACC Coach of the Year (1991, 1994, 1995) and was SEC Coach of the Year in 2004. He retired with a record of 406-278. His teams won 3 NIT championships, 2 ACC Tournament titles and the ACC regular-season title in 1995. He coached both Ralph Sampson and Tim Duncan.
