Dusel moves on to 3m Finals at Winter Championships

Virginia men's and women's divingVirginia diving senior Sydney Dusel earned a spot in the finals of the 3m dive at the USA Diving National Winter Championships with her performance on the 3m board on Friday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.

Dusel recorded a score of 296 in the semifinals to combine for a 12-round score of 546.65. Her combined score placed her 11th overall and earned her a berth to the 3m board finals. She finished 14th in the prelims, capturing a score of 250.65.

Dusel also qualified for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials with her score in the semifinals.

In addition to Dusel, sophomore Walker Creedon earned a spot in the day’s semifinals, competing on the men’s platform. The sophomore captured a score of 280.2 in the semifinals and a score of 275.30 in the prelims for a combined score of 555.50. Creedon’s combined score placed him 19th overall in the competition.

Dusel will return to action on Sunday to compete in the women’s 1m dive and in the finals on the 3m board.
