The Virginia field hockey team announced its 2023 schedule on Thursday with a slate that features 16 regular-season games, including seven home contests and a home scrimmage on Aug. 16 against Longwood.

The Cavaliers will have a challenging schedule that includes nine matches against 2022 NCAA tournament teams. Virginia will host the ACC Championship from Oct. 31- Nov. 2 at Turf Field. It will be the eighth time the tournament has been played in Charlottesville and the first time since 2015.

The Cavaliers open the season with home contests against Penn State (Aug. 25) and Liberty (Aug. 29). Harvard (Sept. 10) and Maryland (Sept. 18) round out the non-conference home matches. UVA and Duke will play twice in October, with the home contest on Oct. 6 counting toward the conference standings while the road contest on Oct. 15 will be a non-conference meeting. Virginia also hosts Boston College (Sept. 15) in an ACC match.

Virginia closes the home and conference slate on Friday, Oct. 20 against North Carolina. In addition to being the Senior Day game, it will also kick off a weekend celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first Virginia field hockey game.

Broadcast selections, including games appearing on the ACC Network, will be released and posted to VirginiaSports.com once the Atlantic Coast Conference and ESPN determine them.

Admission is free for all regular-season home matches. Ticket information for the ACC Championship will be released at a later date.
