Virginia field hockey senior goalkeeper Tyler Kennedy and graduate midfielder Suze Leemans were named the ACC Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, in honors announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Kennedy collected her ninth career shutout in Friday night’s 7-0 victory against Temple, saving five shots by the Owls. On Sunday, Kennedy made six saves in the 2-1 road victory at No. 11 Liberty.
This is Kennedy’s second career ACC Defensive Player of the Week honor, as she was also recognized in September of last year.
Leemans scored two goals Friday against Temple, including the first of her collegiate career. She scored the game’s first goal at Liberty, giving the Cavaliers an early 1-0 lead against the Flames.
This is the first career conference recognition for Leemans.
