Virginia’s punting issues for 2021 were solved Monday when Florida’s former starting punter, Jacob Finn, announced he is transferring to UVA.
Finn, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., entered the transfer portal last week, and becomes the sixth player to transfer to Virginia this offseason.
A walk-on with the Gators in 2016, he earned a scholarship last season when he became Florida’s starting punter. Finn averaged 46.3 yards per punt on 26 kicks, including a career-long 67 yarder against LSU. Of his 26 punts, 15 of those pinned down opponents inside the 15 yard line.
According to Pro Football Focus, Finn averaged a hang time of four seconds.
Nash Griffin handled punts for UVA last season, but graduated. Griffin punted 42 times for an average of 42.3 yards and a long of 58, with 12 punts inside the 20.
