Looks like UVA is getting a visit from Campbell star SF Dell’Orso
By Jerry Ratcliffe
According to a source, Virginia basketball will get a visit from one of the top small forwards in the transfer portal, Campbell University’s Anthony Dell’Orso.
A second-team All-CAA selection this past season, Dell’Orso was the Big South’s Freshman of the Year in 2022-23. At 6-foot-6, 190 pounds, he is coming off a spectacular sophomore campaign when he averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists per game, while shooting 49 percent from the field and 38 percent from the arc.
Dell’Orso, who hails from Melbourne, Australia, started 31 out of 32 games for the Camels and became only the third player in Campbell history to reach 1,000 career points in less than two seasons. He scored in double figures 28 times in 2023-24, including an eight-game streak with 20-plus points. He also led the Camels in steals with 51.
It’s no surprise that On3.com ranks Dell’Orso as one of the top 10 small forwards in the portal, while 247Sports rated him a 4-star portal prospect, the No. 97 overall prospect in the portal and the No. 20 small forward, although Campbell officially lists him as a guard.
Dell’Orso entered the portal on April 9. It isn’t yet known if he has any offers on the table or the date of his Virginia visit, as these details are just becoming available.
