Men’s Golf: Montague leads Cavaliers on final day at Sharkey Individual Collegiate

Graduate student Jack Montague led a quartet of UVA players who competed at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate in Statesboro, Ga., to open Virginia’s spring schedule. He tied for 14th place, shooting 3-over 219. Montague had rounds of 70, 75 and 74.
Freshman Bryan Lee finished one shot behind Montague in 17th place at 4-over 220. He posted scores of 70, 74 and 76. UVA junior Grayson Wotnosky was 37th at 229, while sophomore Matthew Monastero finished 42nd at 230.
Georgia Southern’s Parker Claxton won the event at 9-under 207. A total of 62 players competed in the tournament.
There was no team scoring at the event.
Virginia plays its first team tournament of the spring Feb. 26-28 at the Dorado Beach Invitational in Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico.
