Virginia goalie Matthew Nunes has been named the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Week for games played April 24-30, the conference office announced on Tuesday. The award marks Nunes’ fourth ACC weekly honor of his career and first of the season.

Nunes was sensational in net for the Cavaliers in UVA’s pair of wins over Lafayette and No. 1 Notre Dame. For the week, Nunes registered a 63.46 save percentage, including a 70.37 save percentage against the Irish. Nunes turned in a career-high 19 saves against Notre Dame and collected a game-high eight ground balls in UVA’s second win of the season over a No. 1 opponent. Nunes and the UVA defense held Notre Dame to just eight goals, its lowest goal total in over a year. The win was also Nunes’ second of the season over the top-ranked Irish.

Duke attackman Dyson Williams was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring six goals and dishing out one assist in the Blue Devils’ 18-15 victory over Syracuse.

No. 2 Virginia (11-3) finds out its postseason fate on Sunday during the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Selection Show. The Selection Show is scheduled for Sunday at 9:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
