The No. 7 Virginia men’s tennis team closed out the regular season with a 6-1 victory against Georgia Tech on Sunday at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort.

Virginia (21-4, 12-0 ACC) will be the 1-seed in the ACC Championship, being held at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. Virginia will open play on Friday against either 8-seed Miami or 9-seed Georgia Tech (13-13, 4-8).

This is Virginia’s 16th time winning the ACC regular-season title and the 12th time the team has gone undefeated in conference play.

Ryan Goetz, one of two players honored before the match for Senior Day, had dominant performances in both singles and doubles. He and partner Alex Kiefer opened the match with a 6-0 win on doubles court three before he took his singles match 6-1, 6-2 against Rohan Sachdev on court four.

“Today was the day that we honored two very special young men in William Woodall and Ryan Goetz on Senior Day,” said head coach Andres Pedroso. “What these two have invested in our program is off the charts, and their love for the program and UVA is something they will always be remembered for. We are all so grateful to have had both of them in our program for the last five years. I’m so happy for them, and I’m excited about what they will accomplish in life once their time at UVA is finished. Thank you Ryan and Woody for everything you have done for Virginia Tennis.”

Chris Rodesch, the reigning ACC Player of the Week, scored his third top-10 singles victory of the season, topping No. 9 Andres Martin 6-4, 6-7 (4), 10-4.
