Virginia finally has a quarterback.
The Cavaliers landed a commitment from former Missouri starter Beau Pribula on Monday after he visited Charlottesville over the weekend. Pribula had also visited Tennessee, Washington and Georgia Tech among others.
Pribula’s commitment ends UVA’s dilemma at the position after the NCAA denied an appeal for a seventh year of eligibility for starter Chandler Morris and backup Danny Kaelin committed to Nebraska. Those developments left the Cavaliers without any experience at the key position.
Pribula (6-foot-2, 211 pounds) started 10 games this past season for Missouri, completing 67.4 percent of his pass attempts while throwing for 1,941 yards and 11 touchdowns, 9 interceptions. A dual threat, he also rushed for 297 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Due to a leg injury, Pribula missed three games during the season, and while he was healthy enough to play for the Tigers in their Gator Bowl appearance with Virginia, he opted out of the bowl.
Pribula, who has one year of eligibility remaining, had an NIL value of $1.8 million according to one national recruiting service, although it is not known what Virginia’s deal with him might be.
A native of York, Pa., he was a die-hard Penn State fan and committed to the Nittany Lions out of high school. He was on the Penn State roster under Coach James Franklin for three years but saw little action, prompting him to transfer to Missouri, where he started immediately.
Ranked the No. 15 quarterback in the transfer portal, Pribula was the second-highest QB remaining in the portal as of this weekend.
