New UVA offer goes out to star Minnesota point guard Freitag for ’24
By Jerry Ratcliffe
Virginia has offered another future point-guard prospect, 6-foot-3 Daniel Freitag from Bloomington, Minn.
Freitag, a member of the recruiting class of 2024, is rated the No. 39 overall prospect nationally in that class by Rivals, and No. 53 in 247Sports composite ratings. 247 also ranked Freitag the No. 8 point guard in his class and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Minnesota.
As a sophomore, he led Jefferson High School to a 20-7 record, averaging 26.7 points per game, while shooting 53 percent from the field. He scored in double figures in every game and topped the 40-points total twice, in addition to scoring 30 or more five other times.
Freitag holds offers from UVA, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Baylor, Iowa, Iowa State and Minnesota. A two-sport star, he is also being recruited by Wisconsin for football, where he is a wide receiver.
