The No. 3 seed Virginia women’s soccer team takes the pitch on Saturday night in a quarterfinal match of the NCAA Tournament at No. 1 seed UCLA. Kick is set for 9 p.m. ET at Wallis Annenberg Stadium.

THE SERIES WITH UCLA

  • Virginia and UCLA have faced each other 11 times with the Bruins leading the all-time series 6-3-2.

  • The teams first met in 1995, playing to a 1-1 draw in a match played in Livermore, California.

VIRGINIA VS. UCLA IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT

  • Virginia and UCLA will face each other for the seventh time in the NCAA Tournament with UCLA leading 4-1-1.
  • Three of those meetings in the NCAA Tournament have come in the quarterfinals or later.
  • UCLA won quarterfinal matchups in 2005 while the Hoos won the 2014 quarterfinal matchup.
  • The teams played to a draw in the 2013 semifinals with UVA advancing to the championship in a shootout.

WHAT’S ON THE LINE SATURDAY NIGHT

  • Virginia and UCLA are playing for a spot in the College Cup and will be the last game of the quarterfinal round.
  • The Hoos are looking to advance to the College Cup for the fourth time under head coach Steve Swanson.
  • UVA advanced to the semifinals in the 1991 season and a win would give them a fifth semifinal appearance.
