Several of our subscribers have messaged us with ideas to help us out as we build our brand, and they’ve been good ones: maybe a tailgate/meet and greet at the first UVA game where we can all say hello and encourage people to subscribe; possibly a golf tournament, since Hootie loves golf and plays the game on a regular basis.
But the one I liked the best was the suggestion that we should somehow have a Hootie bobblehead.
Blessed with some photoshop skills, I quickly found an example of a golfer bobblehead and went through the process of attaching Hootie’s head to the bobblehead body in the proper proportions to see what it would look like (NOTE: some didn’t like the fact the golf shirt had Carolina Blue in it, so I’ve added an alternate). Once done, I texted it to the big man to see what he thought of it.
“LOL. What are we going to do with THAT?” was the text I got back.
I suggested we use it as an incentive. Tell everyone when we get to 1,000 subscribers, we’ll order a bunch and sell them at cost so everyone who wants one can have one on their shelf or desk. Is that something, I asked Jerry, you’d be willing to do?
“If we can get 1,000 subscribers real soon,” Jerry texted back, showing his business prowess, “I’ll pretty much do anything!”
While that’s more information than I or anyone else needed to know, to the right is the prototype for the hottest bobblehead Charlottesville and beyond may ever see. I have no idea how to get it made, but it’s on my to-do list for early fall when the goal may possibly be reached.
Meanwhile, this has also been a cheesy way to remind everyone that the site will only remain free for 10 more days. Now is the time to be thinking of hitting the submit button on the subscription page so you don’t miss a single word from Hootie about UVA sports.
Every click brings us one step closer to Hootie bobbleheads 🙂
