CHARLESTON, S.C. – In the nation’s first college basketball exhibition game of the season on Sunday afternoon, Vanderbilt defeated Virginia 82-73 in a unique outdoor contest played at Credit One Tennis Stadium as part of the LinkU Invitational.

The game was played under sunny skies, with one side of the court sitting in the shade. The sun appeared to have some effect on the players at times, but the wind did not seem to be much of a factor throughout the game.
