Virginia will get a visit from one of the state’s top high school football prospects in Freedom running back Jeffrey Overton Jr.

Overton is presently rated a 3-star but will likely move up considering the attention he gained after helping lead Freedom High School to an undefeated season and state championship. The 5-foot-10, 187-pound running back (Class of 2025) has scheduled four official visits: May 31 to Ohio State; June 7-9 to Virginia; June 14-16 to Maryland and June 21-23 to Virginia Tech.

He is rated as the No. 17 overall prospect in the state and No. 52 running back in the nation by 247Sports, but ranked higher by On3, which has him as No. 14 in Virginia and No. 30 nationally.

Other than the four schools that will get official visits, Overton has also been offered by Oregon, Tennessee, Penn State, Duke, NC State, JMU, Pitt, Syracuse, Boston College, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

Last season, Overton led the Eagles to a 14-0 record as he rushed for 2,329 yards and 44 touchdowns.

Could it be that Overton is the type of running back that could help take Tony Elliott’s offense to the top of its game? It has been a while since Virginia has boasted a running back with a potential NFL future.
