Swimming & Diving: Six Hoos selected for NCAA Championships

Virginia men’s swimming had six selected for the 2023 NCAA Men’s Championship, USA Swimming released on Wednesday.

Sophomore Jack Aikins, junior Matt Brownstead, sophomore Tim Connery, senior Josh Fong, senior August Lamb and junior Noah Nichols earned selection for the championships. Senior Max Edwards was selected as an alternate.

Brownstead was selected in three events (100 back, 100 free, 50 free). Aikins (100 back, 200 back), Connery (200 IM, 100 fly) and Nichols (100 breast, 200 breast) were selected in two events.

UVA finished 10th at the 2022 NCAA Championships, marking the third-straight top 10 finish for the Cavaliers. Brownstead and Aikins return after earning individual All-America honors a season ago, while Fong, Lamb and Nichols each earned All-America honors as part of UVA’s relays.

The 2023 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships will be held March 22-25 in Minneapolis, Minn.
