Tale of the Tape: Virginia vs. Virginia Tech

The Virginia football team will try to put an end to the 14-year drought against in-state arch rival Virginia Tech Friday afternoon in the Battle for the Commonwealth Cup at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, where the Hokies (4-6, 3-4 ACC) have lost four straight games.

The Cavaliers (7-4, 4-3) haven’t won in Blacksburg since 1998, and can end those two streaks as well as Tech’s 25-straight bowl appearance streak (which leads the nation) with a victory. In addition, the ‘Hoos could quite possibly swing the in-state recruiting battle in their favor as well.

Tech has dropped four games in a row overall, and five of its last six. UVA has already clinched bowl eligibility for a second straight season and nothing more needs to be said – Black Friday is almost here and both teams will be rearing to go, and you can throw out the records.

The 100th meeting between the ‘Hoos and the Hokies kicks off at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.
