Senior tight end Eli Wood, who excelled in Virginia’s postseason games, entered the NCAA transfer portal on Saturday, becoming the 15th Cavalier to choose that route.

Wood joined some other unexpected UVA players to hit the portal, including wide receivers Trell Harris and Kam Courtney, along with defensive lineman Hunter Osborne and linebacker Maddox Marcellus.

Wood, from Lynchburg, didn’t play a strong role in the Virginia offense until the postseason when he caught the game-tying touchdown in the ACC Championship game against Duke, then hauled in four receptions (71 yards) vs. Missouri in the Gator Bowl.

Most of Wood’s playing time in 2025 came on UVA’s special teams, but he did make 16 catches for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Seven of those receptions came in the final two postseason games.
