Five former Virginia football stars and one former Fork Union Military Academy standout have been nominated for the 2024 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Ronde Barber, who starred for UVA in the 1990s, was inducted into the Hall this past August.

The five Wahoos nominated are: running backs Tiki Barber (Ronde’s twin brother), Thomas Jones and Chris Warren (who started his collegiate career at Virginia but finished at Ferrum); wide receiver Herman Moore; and linebacker James Farrior. All five of those players, like Ronde Barber, played for Coach George Welsh, the winningest coach in UVA history.

FUMA standout running back Eddie George, who won the Heisman Trophy at Ohio State, was also nominated for induction in Canton.

Players have to have played at least five full seasons ago to be eligible for nomination. A total of 19 finalists will make it for review by the 50-member Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee, including 15 modern-era players. Between four and nine new members will be selected and must receive 80 percent of the votes from the committee.

Virginia has five former players-coaches-owners in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including three players: “Bullet Bill” Dudley, Henry Jordan and Ronde Barber; one coach, Earle “Greasey” Neale; and one owner, Ralph Wilson (Buffalo Bills).
