Virginia gained a big commitment on Tuesday from in-state safety Zayvon “Ziggy” Miller, who chose the Cavaliers over Virginia Tech, Penn State and Louisville.

With more than 20 offers, Miller visited Tech again in April and had a face-to-face sitdown with Hokies coach James Franklin.

Still, that wasn’t enough to sway the Huguenot (Richmond) standout away from UVA, which offered Miller in November.

Miller, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, is a 3-star from the 2027 recruiting class. He is ranked as the No. 84 safety in the nation in his class and the No. 19 overall recruit in the state of Virginia by 247Sports. On3/Rivals rates him No. 104 in the country and No. 20 in the Commonwealth.

“Coach Curome Cox was very big in this decision,” Miller told On3. “That’s the guy I’m going to be with every day. That’s my position coach.”

Miller also said he had a strong relationship with UVA head coach Tony Elliott, and believes that Cox will get him to the NFL.

“The loyalty, the consistency and how I feel when I’m in the building (the UVA Hardie Family Football Center) made a big difference in my decision,” Miller also told On3. “I feel a lot of love. I’m not just talking to one coach. I’m talking to every coach and staff member.”

Miller is the sixth commitment to UVA’s ‘27 class, and all six are from the state of Virginia. He said he will make his official visit to Charlottesville this week and will not visit any other schools.

He was also offered by other schools that didn’t make his final four: Florida State, South Carolina, West Virginia, Pitt, Syracuse, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Boston College and others.
