UVA beats out Hokies, Penn State, UNC & more for 4-star WR Robinson

Less than 24 hours after a lopsided defeat to its state rival, Virginia coach Tony Elliott got some great news: the Cavaliers’ first commitment for the recruiting class of 2025, and it’s a good one.

Virginia beat out Penn State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Duke, Boston College, Liberty and East Carolina for talented 4-star receiver Isaiah Robinson from Richmond’s Trinity Episcopal School.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound blue-chipper announced his commitment on his Twitter account Sunday afternoon, a day after UVA was beaten 55-17 by Virginia Tech.

Robinson attended Virginia’s football camp last June and was offered that month as he began to build a bond with Elliott and wide receivers coach Adam Mims. The Trinity star actually decided that UVA was his future school in October and chose to announce his decision after the season concluded.

He is a composite 4-star and ranked the No. 6 prospect in the state of Virginia in his 2025 class, also ranked the No. 53 wide receiver prospect in the nation in that class.

Robinson liked the culture that Elliott has built and the Virginia passing game, which was the strength of the 2023 team. In Saturday’s loss, the Cavaliers passed for 243 yards and slot receiver Malik Washington broke both ACC and UVA receiving records, while finishing No. 1 or No. 2 (see related story here) nationally in the major FBS pass-receiving categories.

Robinson indicated that because UVA is only an hour away from Richmond that his family can easily come to his games, and coming from a private school, education was also a factor in his decision.

The fact that Virginia quarterback Anthony Colandrea is only a freshman and shattered all school passing records for a freshman likely made an impression on Robinson. Should Colandrea stick around, he will most assuredly be the QB when Robinson joins the program.
