UVA in fourth place at Windy City Collegiate

The No. 10 Virginia women’s golf team stood in fourth place when play was suspended due to darkness at the Windy City Collegiate Classic at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill. The Cavaliers managed to finish all 36 holes on the opening day and stood at 19-over 595.
UA had rounds of 14-over 302 and 5-over 293. Stanford, ranked No. 14 this week by Golfweek, also finished both of its rounds and stood atop the leaderboard at 7-over 583. No. 13 Texas was in second place at 9-over and No. 12 Florida was third at 16-over, with both teams still having golfers on the course, when play was suspended.
UVA junior Virginia Bossi led the Cavaliers with rounds of 75 and 72 for a first-day total of 3-over 147. She was tied for eighth place. Senior Riley Smyth shot 72 and 78 and was tied with freshman teammate Amanda Sambach for 17th at 150. Sambach carded rounds of 74 and 76. Graduate student Beth Lillie was 45th at 154 and sophomore Jennifer Cleary was 55th at 156. Junior Celeste Valinho, competing as an individual, was also in 17th place at 150.
